Winfred Rembert Jr. is an established leather artist whose work reflects a deep commitment to narration, craftsmanship, and cultural expression. Working within the tradition of hand-tooled leather, he creates pieces that explore themes of identity, lived experience, and contemporary life, while developing a visual language that is distinctly his own.

Rooted in both heritage and innovation, Rembert Jr.’s practice honors the techniques passed down to him while expanding the possibilities of leather as a fine art medium. His work resonates for its authenticity, expressive depth, and strong sense of voice.

Honored for his contributions to education and community engagement—including receiving recognition from the U.S. Congress—Rembert Jr. plays a vital role in ensuring that his father’s story continues to resonate. In addition to his studio practice, Rembert Jr. is a cultural ambassador, engaging lecturer and educator, sharing insights into the history of leather tooling, the power of personal narrative, and the importance of preserving legacy through art. Through both his artwork and public engagement, he continues to shape and define his place as a contemporary artist. Winfred Jr currently serves as Interfaith Volunteer Care Givers of Greater New Haven (IVCG) artist-in-residence, teaching seniors how to create art on leather while helping them discover and express their own artistic voice.
